It does work The idiots that say it just gives random readings are wrong. I just used it to find 3 underground irons marking the boundaries of my properties. I only had a vague idea where they were and all were buried under dirt, roots and grass. Searched 10 foot radius area by slowly passing it an inch off of the ground and it buzzed directly over the irons.

The science Your phone does detect ferrous metals with a very weak magnetometer. the range is small enough that you will see the metal you are detecting. More useful for coin fraud identification. Useless for finding things.

Works ok It's fun but not extremely sensitive, so it isn't useful for much more than showing off.

Detects Metal After Calibration! This Metal Detector application is working after calibrating my Samsung Epic 4G phone. I calibrate it by pointing my cell phone up towards the sky and move it in a figure 8 motion. Without calibration, it claims to detect metal whenever I tilt my phone even though I point it skywards in a wide open space. Please keep up the great work, Kurt Radwanski! :)

HORRIBLE Horrible and pointless APP. All it is is a tilt-sensor. Hold your phone vertical... then slowly tilt it to the right or left... wow it goes up....
