It's a mirror! It reflects your image off the blanked-out glass of your screen. It's a true mirror, not using a front-facing camera. As such, it's not that clear a reflection. But for phones without a FFC, it's the best you can get.

It works fine It is just the reflection of the screen. No special lights or anything... But It makes a good mirror!
