One of the best I've tried I've used this for a couple years on two or three different Android handsets, mostly for on-the-fly musical-idea capture. Even without mic level adjustment available, the sound quality for in-room music is very good-- and yes, that does actually vary significantly between recording apps. A loud rock rehearsal comes out clipped, but somehow it actually sounds kind of cool in a lo-fi way, rather than unlistenable like the output of so many other recording apps. Never really had it drop out or produce skipping in-file either, although the processing / writing time after a long recording session at higher sample rates can be really, really long. With the "slap the date in the title" button, it doesn't get much easier than this. If you need more functionality, TapeMachine is good too, but I always seem to hit up Hertz first.

These guys aren't giving this enough credit... This app plus the Dolby mobile on my HTC phone makes great notifications and music.

Completely useless output file Sounded great, from what parts of my recording came out - but I credit that to the phone and microphone rather than the program. 45min recording turned into a 3m40s song when I completed the recording - there's a TON of skipping and various parts of the recording all mixed together. Completely useless and unsalvageable file. Unsure if this is due to the screen blanking out after it's default timeout value to save battery, or if it's the program in general, but I'm not putting my trust in it a second time. Simple & It works for Looonnng recordings. I just did a 1 hour recording this past weekend with Hertz at 44.1k. It did take over 2 hours to process the file after pushing stop, but it worked.

Excellent quality of recording on a galaxy s. The only bug that I noticed was that the recording went blank after I took a call.
