Background service to add support for variable speed or pitch for playback of MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files.  AAC is not supported due to existing patents.

I have been informed that the following apps have added support for Presto:

- BeyondPod
- DoggCatcher
- PodTrapper
- Pocket Casts

The Presto developer is a different developer from those applications.  Those developers are not responsible for Presto's implementation, bugs, or cost.

Presto is still in beta.  Bugs are listed at the end of this description.  Please e-mail me if you find new bugs.  I apologize for the lack of updates; I bit off way more than I can chew this semester.  Work is ongoing, but I can only spare a few hours at a time on some Mondays.  Please be patient.

Apps using Presto must be restarted after upgrading Presto.

Download problems are a problem with the Android Market, not with Presto.  See these pages for potential solutions:

For developers:  See the home page for nearly drop-in code that replaces android.media.MediaPlayer, using Presto when available, or gracefully degrading to use the default Android MediaPlayer when not.

Known bugs (please e-mail me if you find any new ones or any of these impact you too severely; I have no means to respond to Market comments).  Asterisks (*) indicate bugs that have not been observed in a while; please e-mail me if you encounter them so I can confirm they are not fixed.

faster pussycat... kill, kill Works w/ Pocket Casts. I love blasting thru long slow but interesting podcasts quickly. 2 much banter & awkward pauses can get annoying. There's 2 many podcasts, 2 little time! **NOTE** Can't just play a podcast & change speed, ONLY works w/ episodes after u dwnld them. Took a min 2 realize this, thought it didn't work. HTC Incrd 2.3

Must have for pro podcasts listeners I use this with beyondpod and love it! Currently at 1.45x on podcasts, both in english and my native language. Highly recommended!

Very useful Great for catching up on podcasts! Occasional freezing when used with beyondpodcast on my droid 3, but still worth it!

Awesome! Use this with Dogcatcher and I love it. If you're a big podcast listener, this app is a must. Top drawer application.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Does the job with a minimum of fuss. Occasional glitches could be due to corrupted downloads.

A must for podcast listening! Works great with Doggcatcher on my Rezound. 1.5x speed makes consuming hours of content go by in a flash.

Constant Crashes. It's good when it works but it's very buggy on Samsung Infuse when used with Pocketcasts. Approximately every other attempt to use it results in a force close.
