Secure Settings

Secure Settings is a Tasker/Locale plug-in for Android 2.2 and up.
In order for this application to work properly, one of these applications must be installed.

THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR TASKER POWER USERS!!

This plugin will allow you to do the following:

• Enable or Disable the Keyguard
  º Bypass the lock screen so you don't have to enter your password, pin or pattern until it's re-enabled.

• Lock the device
  º Lock the device and turn off the screen!

• Set or Reset the device Password or Pin
  º Store a password or pin (encrypted using 128 bit AES encryption) so that you can enable and disable your password.
  º Added functionality: Wait until the password has been entered once successfully before unlocking the device!

• Run Command
  º Execute any linux command with the ability to capture all the information from the output, error streams as well as the exit value of the command!
  º If you are rooted, you can use root to execute privileged commands.
  º Optionally display a notification or console output from the command.
  º If you are running Tasker, you can output all of these values to user-defined Tasker variables.

• Wake Device
  º Turn your device's screen on, keep it on for a specified period of time, then turn it off.

~Root functionality~
If you are rooted the following is available
• Wireless ADB
  º Allows you to communicate with your device over Wifi using ADB

~Advanced Root functionality~
If you are rooted, you can install the Secure Settings Helper app.
The Helper is a small listener application that sits in the system partition that will execute commands given by this application.
Android grants applications in the system partition access to more "Secure Settings." It is because of this that the application needs root access to be installed.

With this installed, you gain access to the following functions:

• Enable or Disable ADB
  º Allows your device to interface with your computer when plugged in via USB.
  º Keeping ADB enabled can be a bit of a security risk, especially if you're rooted. With this you can pick and choose when to have it enabled.

• Enable or Disable GPS
  º Allows you to set whether the GPS is on or off.
  º This is useful for devices running Android 2.3+

• Change Input Methods
  º Switch between currently enabled input methods without the prompt!
  º Helpful if you would like a certain keyboard when in portrait versus landscape mode or if you would like to use a certain keyboard for specific applications.

• Enable or Disable Pattern Lock
  º Allows you to turn the pattern lock screen on and off.
  º Added functionality: Wait until the pattern has been entered once successfully before unlocking the device!

• Enable or Disable "Use Wireless Networks" option
  º Allows you to choose when to use wireless networks for location awareness.

Explanation of Permissions:
• Device Administrator Access - Required if you wish to lock the device or set/reset the password
• Storage Access - Required for the Run Command function to write to the SD Card
• Full Network Access - Required to download and check for updates for the Helper application
• System Tools - Required for the Keyguard and Wake Lock functionality
• Root Access - Required if you wish to install the Helper or run privileged commands from the Run Command function
• Wifi Access - Required to determine if Wifi is enabled for the Wireless ADB function
