A tape measure is a flexible form of ruler.

First, place your phone on the object you want to measure.
Second, place you finger on the screen and move your phone.
Your finger will maintain position of the ruler and by moving the device you can measure the length.

This works as a ruler up to a foot or so, surprisingly. Accurate on my Epic Galaxy S.

Helped a friend move, used it to measure bare walls to size up furniture, was so clutch and useful!

Works great once you get the hang of it. Great when you need a quick measurement. We got exact results as a tape measure while playing with it.
