Open Source Theremin is able produce sounds based on the magnetic field around your phone. You might manipulate it using a metal object such as a coin or your ear phones.

It might serve as well as a metal detector!

Terrific idea but doesn't react predictably on Droid. Random pitches. MIDI note hangs when closing. Microtones would be nice instead of chromatic step

The accelerometers and magnetometer work together, I found. I agree about the need for portamento. Out without it, it falls short as a theremin.

Complete shananagans. The sound is controled by your phones gyroscope or motion sensor.
