File Expert can share your files via HTTP or FTP through WIFI connection. It also has following features and functions to help you make your mobile life easier.
File Operations povides you all basic file operations like copy,paste, delete and more. You can use those commands to manage your files and medias in your phone.
Network Share provides you the most powerful features it have! You can start to share your files via HTTP (Web) or FTP to others through the WIFI network. It’s very easy to setup, all you need is just to select “Start Sharing” and use Browser (via Web Sharing) or any of FTP client software (via FTP sharing) in your host computer to manage your files stored in your phone. You can upload files/delete files/create folder to your phone via FTP sharing.
Web sharing is mostly used to preview phone’s photos and videos in your computer without copying them to your computer first.
This is the one of the most useful features that File Expert offers. I’ll write more tutorials on how to use this feature. The other most useful feature is SMB client, which we’ll discuss later in this article.
Currently FTP sharing doesn’t support Android 2.2 Froyo. For users who are using this very new system, please use other useful features first and wait for new release of File Expert to come, I think we’ll support this new Android release very soon.
Install All APK can help you install all your APK package in short time, it can automatically installs all APKs within that directory. It’s a very useful feature when you have a new phone and plan to move your software to the new system.
ZIP/UNZIP, as its name’s meanings, it could compress and decompress files that using ZIP format. If you have many files to transfer, it’s good to compress them into a single package first, then decompress them in your phone. It can help you improve the transfer performance.
Add To Bookmark, so what’s a bookmark? Imagine that you have plenty of files stored in your phone’s SD card and you don’t operate most of them much. In this very common case you could add those folders and files which you operate often to Bookmark, or Favorite. You can touch the Favorite tab to see them and start your work immediately.
Set To Start Location, it can let you to choose which place we should put in startup desktop. Maybe your SD card root directory or your music folder? Who knows? You.
SMB Client. Do you know what is a SMB client? SMB is stands for Server Message Block protocol, it’s a very common network communication protocol that used to share files and other resources like printers over the network, both on Internet or local network. Windows has SMB support built-in, which is called Network Neighbors or just simply File Sharing. So SMB is just the technology that Windows uses to share files between computers. Linux also can support SMB by using a free software called Samba, which has built-in by default in some of popular Linux distributions.
File Expert is a full featured capable SMB client, it can browse files and folder, copy them between computers and your phones if you have enough permissions.
File Expert also can support directly open some files, the principles to do this is that File Expert creates a local wen server and converts data from SMB stream into HTTP stream, so a software, like a player could directly read local HTTP data stream to play contents. By using this feature, you could see your photos stored in your computer without copying them to your phone first. This can help you save the SD card storage size.
