Newest Android distribution numbers show KitKat’s continued growth
Historically, the sheer number of devices launched by manufacturers has occasionally prevented them from keeping up with the latest version of Android. Ever since the launch of Android 4.4 KitKat, though, that trend has begun to shift. As revealed in the Android distribution numbers released by Google in December 2014, KitKat’s domination of the ...

AT&T Mobile Share Value customers get free rollover data
AT&T customers now get to carry over their unused data from one month to the next.  They used this concept years ago to mobile minutes, when most plans had limited minutes, the main difference being the rollover data is good for one month whereas minutes were good for a year.  I am not complaining about... AT&T Adds Rollover Data To All Mobile Share Value Plans Starting January 25th In Reponse To T-Mobile
AT&T has announced that it's taking the concept of rollover minutes or texts and applying it to data starting January 25th. This will only affect Mobile Share Value plans, but it will impact new and current customers alike. The policy shift likely isn't coming out of the goodness of the carrier's heart (teehee, as if carriers have hearts). Instead, this looks like a calculated response to T-Mobile's recent decision to start rolling unused data over into the next month. AT&T Adds Rol...

Google Updates Android Platform Distribution Numbers, KitKat Shows Big Gains And Lollipop Still Doesn't Make The Cut
The developer dashboard has been updated, and there's some big movement this month. In the post holiday window, KitKat is up a healthy 5.2% and Gingerbread drops another 1.3%. One thing you won't see on the chart is Lollipop. Android 5.0 still hasn't hit the 0.1% threshold to be included in the data, just like last month. It's nice to see more movement this month, especially where Gingerbread is concerned. Android is a great operating system for mobile devices, but most of us love Android because it can be used for some many different kinds of hardware. Wireless Charging Organizations PMA And A4WP Merging To Better Combat Market Leader Qi
If you have wireless charging in your phone or tablet, odds are good that it's based on the Qi standard. However, Qi isn't the only standard out there. The Power Matters Alliance (PMA) and Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP) have agreed to merge in hopes of standing up to the current market leader. After Qi, PMA is a distant second in wireless charging. A few phones have come with this standard built-in, like the AT&T variant of the LG G3. Wireless Charging Organizations PMA And A4WP Mer...

AT&T Brings Back Rollover – for Data
For years, AT&T offered rollover minutes on its mobile plans, going back all the way to the days of AirTouch and Cingular Wireless. (Remember Cingular?! They were awesome. I loved that orange jumping jack guy.) But with minutes ceasing to be valuable currency in the mobile space in recent years, Rollover disappeared. Now AT&T, taking […] Come comment on this article: AT&T Brings Back Rollover – for Data Visit TalkAndroid for Android news, Android guides, and much more!

Lynx SmartGrill Takes The Adventure Out Of Cooking, Can Be Yours For $6,000 - $9,500 Come March

The Lynx SmartGrill promises to do away with that. This expensive Internet-connected machine can look up what you're cooking, automatically adjust the heat as needed, and instruct you when it's time to flip. If you're afraid of messing up, then this bad boy is willing to...

[Deal Alert] Amazon Fire Phone 32GB On Sale Today For $189 Off Contract
The Amazon Fire Phone was never a bad phone per se, it just didn't come to market at the right price. At $199.99 with a two-year contract, the handset came in as an upstart thinking it had what it took to compete with the heavy hitters. Today, it's available at the more humbling price of $189 total. That's not a bad deal at all for an unlocked GSM device with a 4.7-inch display, 2.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 13MP camera, especially when you consider the lack of a contract...
